Crossworlds

Crossworlds is a 1996 science fiction action comedy about a college student, Joe Talbot, whose ordinary life is interrupted when he learns that a family heirloom left by his father is far more than a keepsake. The pendant is tied to a crystal and a staff that together grant control over the passages linking different dimensions. That makes Joe a target for Ferris, a warlord from another world who wants the power for himself. Joe goes on the run with Laura, a mysterious young woman from a distant galaxy, and the two enlist the help of A.T., a semi-retired mercenary who knows how to travel between worlds. Together they try to keep the key out of Ferris's hands and stop his forces from moving through the crossroads between realities.

The film was directed by Krishna Rao, who wrote the screenplay with Raman Rao. It was produced by Lloyd Segan and Rupert Harvey for Trimark Pictures and runs 90 minutes. Rutger Hauer plays A.T., Josh Charles plays Joe, and Andrea Roth plays Laura, with Perry Anzilotti, Jack Black and Richard McGregor in supporting roles. Krishna Rao had made only two features before this one, placing it early in his directing career.

On IMDb, the film holds a rating of 5.3 from around 3,400 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 5.2 from a much smaller group of 62 votes. A critics' rating of 2.7 from five reviews is noticeably lower than those audience scores.
