50 First Dates

Henry Roth is a marine veterinarian living in Hawaii who has built his life around casual flings and a plan to study walruses in Alaska. That routine ends when he meets Lucy Whitmore, a local woman he quickly falls for. The problem is that Lucy suffers from a form of amnesia caused by a car accident: she remembers everything before that day but forgets each new day once she sleeps. Her family and friends have long shielded her from the truth, arranging her life so she never notices what she has lost. If Henry wants a relationship with her, he has to win her over from scratch every single morning, finding new ways to make her fall for him while working around her father, her brother and a persistent ex-boyfriend.

Peter Segal directed the film, the sixth in a directorial run that had passed through comedy hits such as Tommy Boy, Nutty Professor II: The Klumps and Anger Management. Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore lead the cast as Henry and Lucy, with Rob Schneider, Sean Astin, Lusia Strus and Dan Aykroyd in supporting roles. George Wing wrote the screenplay, and the production involved Happy Madison Productions, Columbia Pictures, Flower Films and Anonymous Content.

The film cost about 75 million US dollars and took roughly 196 million worldwide, a solid return. On TMDB it holds a rating of 6.9 out of 10 from nearly 8,000 votes, while the critics' score stands lower at 5.7 out of 10 from 175 reviews, so audiences have been notably warmer toward it than reviewers.
