Doctor Mordrid is a wizard living quietly in an ordinary city building, keeping his true identity hidden from the people around him. His neighbour Samantha Hunt begins to suspect that there is more to him than she first assumed. Mordrid guards the world against Kabal, a sorcerer of comparable power who wants to take control of the Earth. The two share a history of magical training, and a final confrontation between them becomes unavoidable. The film is an unofficial take on the Doctor Strange comics, made outside the Marvel stable.
Albert Band directed, working from a screenplay by C. Courtney Joyner; Charles Band produced. For Albert Band it followed Ghoulies II, while Charles Band's directing credits place it as the seventh of nineteen films, coming after Trancers II and before Charles Band's Evil Bong.
Jeffrey Combs heads the cast as Dr. Mordrid, with Yvette Nipar as Samantha Hunt, Brian Thompson as Kabal, and Jay Acovone, Keith Coulouris and Ritch Brinkley in supporting roles. The production, from Full Moon Entertainment, was made for about two million dollars and runs seventy-four minutes. Among viewers it holds a modest standing: on IMDb it sits at 5.4 from roughly 2,700 votes, and on TMDB at 5.1 from a much smaller sample of 68 ratings.
