Carly Whitten discovers that the man she has been seeing, Mark King, is married. When she meets his wife, Kate, the two women find they have more in common than either expected, and an unlikely friendship forms between them. Their bond strengthens when they learn that Mark has also been involved with a third woman, Amber. Rather than accept the situation, the three women join forces and set a plan in motion to get even with him.
Nick Cassavetes directed the film, which sits between My Sister's Keeper (2009) and God Is a Bullet (2023) in his filmography. Melissa K. Stack wrote the screenplay, and Julie Yorn produced. Cameron Diaz plays Carly, Leslie Mann plays Kate, and Kate Upton plays Amber, with Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Mark, Don Johnson as Frank, and Nicki Minaj as Lydia. The film runs 109 minutes and was released in April 2014.
Made for a budget of 40 million USD, the comedy took in about 197 million USD worldwide, a strong return on its production cost. Audiences give it 6.4 out of 10 on TMDB from over 3,800 votes, while the film critics' rating stands at 4.3 out of 10 from 165 reviews, so it fared considerably better with viewers than with critics.
