Princess Protection Program
Short description
When the small kingdom of Costa Luna is threatened by a dictator, its young princess, Rosalinda, is taken into a secret program that hides royal heirs in danger. She is placed with an agent, Joe Mason, and his daughter Carter, a tomboyish teenager living an ordinary life in Louisiana. Rosalinda must pass as a typical American high schooler, trading her gowns and formal manners for jeans and classes, while Carter adjusts to sharing her home with a princess. The two girls clash at first, then grow close as Rosalinda learns to fit in and Carter finds a friend unlike anyone she has known.
The film is a Disney Channel television movie directed by Allison Liddi-Brown from a screenplay by Annie DeYoung. Demi Lovato plays Rosalinda, Selena Gomez plays Carter, and the cast also includes Nicholas Braun, Tom Verica, Molly Hagan and Jamie Chung. It runs 89 minutes and mixes comedy, drama and family material.
On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.7 from around 29,000 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 6.6 from roughly 1,777 votes. The larger IMDb sample is noticeably less favorable than the smaller TMDB one, though both place the film in middling territory.
