At Middleton

George is a reserved heart surgeon whose teenage son, Conrad, is a reluctant prospect on the college admissions circuit. Edith is a free-spirited woman pushing her high-achieving daughter, Audrey, through the same process. The two parents meet during an admissions tour at Middleton University, a small, idyllic campus, and before long they slip away from the organised group. What begins as friction turns into an unexpected connection as they wander the grounds together.

At Middleton was directed by Adam Rodgers, who wrote the screenplay with Glenn German; it is the second of the two features Rodgers directed, following Rescuing Desire in 1996. Andy García, who plays George, also produced alongside Sig Libowitz and Glenn German. Vera Farmiga plays Edith, with Taissa Farmiga as Audrey, Spencer Lofranco as Conrad, Nicholas Braun as Justin and Tom Skerritt as Roland Emerson. The credited production counted 22 cast members and 107 crew.

Released in October 2013, the film runs 101 minutes. It was made for about 3 million dollars, a modest scale reflected in its limited theatrical profile. On IMDb it holds 6.5/10 from roughly 9,700 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 6.3/10 from about 199 votes. A critics' rating of 5.8/10 from 36 reviews places it slightly below the audience scores, suggesting a warmer response from viewers than from reviewers.
