God of Gamblers' Return

God of Gamblers' Return continues the story of Ko Chun, a legendary card player who has left gambling behind and settled in France with his pregnant wife. His quiet retirement ends when a rival gambler, Chau Siu Chue, forces him back into the game by murdering his wife. Before she dies, she makes Ko promise not to play or reveal his identity for a year. Unable to act openly, he returns to Asia and works behind the scenes with two small-time con artists while seeking revenge.

Wong Jing directed and wrote the film, the seventeenth of the thirty-seven features he has directed, following Legend of the Red Dragon and preceding Return to a Better Tomorrow. Chow Yun-fat returns as Ko Chun, with Wu Chien-Lien as Little Guitar, Tony Leung Ka-fai as Little Trumpet, Wu Hsing-Guo as the villain Chau Siu Chue, Chingmy Yau as Hoi Tong and Elvis Tsui Kam-Kong as Capt. Kok Ching Chung. Charles Heung produced the Hong Kong action comedy, which runs 124 minutes.

Released in December 1994, the film took about 7 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds a 6.7 rating from roughly 3,100 votes, and on TMDB a 6.6 from around 218 votes, placing it in moderate territory for a Hong Kong genre release of its era.
