Beauty and the Beast

Set in 1810, this fantasy romance follows a merchant who loses his fortune and moves to the countryside with his six children. After the father plucks a rose from the garden of a magical castle, he incurs the wrath of its monstrous owner. To save him, his daughter Belle agrees to take her father's place in the enchanted mansion. As she explores the residence and uncovers the creature's hidden past, a bond forms between them, and Belle becomes the only person capable of breaking the spell through love.

The film was directed by Christophe Gans, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Sandra Vo-Anh. This project is the fifth film in Gans' career, following Necronomicon, Crying Freeman, Brotherhood of the Wolf, and Silent Hill. The movie stars Léa Seydoux as Belle and Vincent Cassel as the Beast, with André Dussollier playing Belle's father.

Produced across Germany, Canada, and France, the production had a budget of 33 million USD and earned 47 million USD at the worldwide box office. On IMDb, the film has a rating of 6.4/10 based on 24,000 votes, while on TMDB it holds a 6.3/10 rating from 2,244 votes. These audience scores are higher than the rating from film critics, which stands at 5.1/10 from 27 reviews.
