Antboy

Antboy is a Danish family adventure about Pelle, a twelve-year-old boy who is an unnoticed outsider at school until an ant bites him and he gains remarkable abilities. With help from his classmate Wilhelm, a comic-book enthusiast, Pelle adopts a secret superhero identity. His new role becomes more serious when a dangerous criminal known as Flea appears, and Pelle must rise to the challenge.

The film is based on Kenneth Bøgh Andersen's children's books and was directed by Ask Hasselbalch, marking the first entry in a series that continued with Antboy: Revenge of the Red Fury and Antboy 3. Anders Ølholm wrote the screenplay, and the cast includes Oscar Dietz as Pelle, Samuel Ting Graf as Wilhelm, Amalie Kruse Jensen as Ida, and Nicolas Bro as Flea. It runs seventy-seven minutes.

Released in 2013, the film took in about two million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.2 from around 2,600 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 5.6 from roughly 150 votes. A critics' score of 4.4 from a handful of reviews places it below the audience figures, indicating modest approval from both critics and viewers.
