Penthouse North

Sara Frost, a war photographer who lost her sight during an assignment abroad, has withdrawn into a penthouse apartment high above New York, where she lives with her boyfriend Ryan. Her quiet isolation ends when a criminal named Hollander breaks in, convinced that a fortune in stolen diamonds is hidden somewhere in the apartment. Sara does not know where the stones are, but Hollander is prepared to use both psychological and physical pressure to get them, and she must draw on her remaining resources to survive the night.

Penthouse North was released in 2013 and runs 85 minutes. It is a drama and thriller directed by Joseph Ruben, whose filmography stretches back to the 1970s and includes The Stepfather, Sleeping with the Enemy and The Forgotten; this was the tenth of the eleven features he has directed and the fourth collaboration with writer-producer David Loughery. The cast is led by Michelle Monaghan as Sara and Michael Keaton as Hollander, with Barry Sloane, Andrew W. Walker, Kaniehtiio Horn and Trevor Hayes in supporting roles.

Audience response has been modest. On IMDb the film holds a rating of 5.5/10 from around 6,300 votes, and on TMDB it has a rating of 5.8/10 from roughly 200 votes, indicating a small, mixed reception rather than a widely embraced release.
