Ready to Rumble

Ready to Rumble follows Gordie Boggs and Sean Dawkins, two young wrestling devotees whose lives revolve around the sport. When Jimmy King, the champion they idolize, is pushed out by the promoter Titus Sinclair after a humiliating match, the two friends set out to restore his career and bring him back to the top.

The film was directed by Brian Robbins and released in 2000, arriving between Varsity Blues and Hardball in the run of features he made from Good Burger onward. Steven Brill wrote the screenplay, and the cast includes David Arquette and Scott Caan as the fans, Oliver Platt as Jimmy King, Joe Pantoliano as the promoter and Rose McGowan as Sasha. It is a Warner Bros. release produced with Bel Air Entertainment.

Made for a budget of 24 million dollars, the film returned 12 million dollars worldwide, a result that left it well short of its cost. On IMDb it holds 5.4 out of 10 from around 16,000 votes, and on TMDB 5.2 out of 10 from roughly 177 votes. A critics' rating of 3.9 out of 10 from 68 reviews places it below even those modest audience scores.
