Gerontophilia

Lake is a young man in a relationship with his girlfriend, Desiree, but he becomes increasingly drawn to elderly men. Troubled by desires he fears may be unhealthy, he takes a summer job at a care home after his mother goes to work there, and he develops a bond with an elderly resident.

Gerontophilia was released in 2013. Bruce LaBruce directed it, working from a screenplay he wrote with Daniel Allen Cox. It stands fourth in the list of the director's features, following Hustler White, The Raspberry Reich and Fucking Different XXX. Pier-Gabriel Lajoie plays Lake, with Walter Borden as Mr. Peabody, Katie Boland as Desiree, Yardly Kavanagh as Nurse Batiste, Marie-Helene Thibault as Marie and Shawn Campbell as Bradley Nelson. It is a Canadian-French co-production running 90 minutes.

The film's subject matter is unusual for a romance, and that is reflected in its reception. On TMDB it holds a rating of 6 out of 10 from 90 votes, while a critics' rating of 5.8 out of 10 comes from 28 reviews, a narrower and slightly lower response than the audience figure. LaBruce followed it with Defense de fumer, The Visitor and Egg.
