Short description
Sue travels the country selling inexpensive art to hotels and motels. In a small Arizona town she meets Mike, the manager of the family motel where she stays, and he becomes infatuated with her. She moves on with her route, and he sets out after her, following her across the United States even as she tries to keep her distance and her own plans intact.
Management is a comedy-drama-romance directed and written by Stephen Belber, his first feature behind the camera; he went on to direct Match in 2014. Jennifer Aniston plays Sue and Steve Zahn plays Mike, with Margo Martindale as Trish, Fred Ward as Jerry, James Hiroyuki Liao as Al and Woody Harrelson as Jango. The film runs 94 minutes and was produced by Wyck Godfrey, Marty Bowen and Sidney Kimmel for Sidney Kimmel Entertainment, Temple Hill Entertainment, Echo Films and Mandate International.
Released in 2009, the film took in about 3 million dollars worldwide against its production backing, a modest return. - Filming took place in Portland, Oregon, USA from October to November 2007.
- When filming was taking place in Portland, Oregon, a local Catholic priest was invited to participate in one of the scenes. One of the casting crew members, who lived in Portland, told him that his character would not have many lines and that the screenwriter and director, Stephen Belber, had rejected everyone else who had auditioned for the role for one reason or another. The priest, initially interested, declined after learning what the scene would be and what the film was about. The scene was altered and eventually filmed, but without the priest.
