Stretch
Short description
Stretch is a limo driver in Los Angeles with a gambling problem and a large debt to a bookie, and he has only one night left to find the money. Relief seems to arrive when a wealthy, eccentric client offers him an enormous tip in exchange for a few errands, including dealing with a ledger that supposedly names dangerous criminals. What starts as a simple job turns into a chaotic night across the city as the driver is pulled into one strange and hazardous encounter after another while chasing the payout he needs.
Joe Carnahan directed and wrote the film, which sits between The Grey and Boss Level in the list of features he has directed. Patrick Wilson plays Stretch, with Chris Pine as the wealthy client Roger Karos. Jessica Alba, Ray Liotta, Brooklyn Decker and Kevin Bigley also appear in a credited cast of twenty. Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Productions are among the production companies behind the film, which runs 94 minutes and was made for about 5 million dollars.
The film has a 6.5 rating on IMDb from around 33,000 votes, and a 6.2 rating on TMDB from roughly 744 votes. Its critics' rating stands at 6.5 from seventeen reviews, close to the audience scores on both platforms.
What's left behind the scenes
- Universal Pictures wanted Chris Pine's character to be clean-shaven, fearing audiences wouldn't recognize him or find his character unattractive. However, the director opposed this, and ultimately the beard remained.
- When the limousine is stolen, the license plates are removed and can be seen falling to the ground. Later, when the limousine is being towed, the plates can be seen back in place.
- Despite Chris Pine playing a fairly significant role in the film, his name is not listed in the credits.
