GARO and the Wailing Dragon continues the story of Kouga Saejima, a Makai Knight bound by a pact with the powerful Gajari to protect humanity. To honor that agreement, Kouga travels to the Promised Land in search of the Fang of Sorrow, a piece of Gajari itself. Once he arrives, he finds himself stripped of the tools he relies on in battle, including his sword, his armor and his ring, leaving him to complete his mission without the advantages he normally holds. His journey takes turns he did not anticipate.
The film is the second feature in the GARO series, following GARO - Kiba: The Dark Knight and arriving after the events of the Makai Senki television story, with the narrative leading toward later chapters of the saga. Keita Amemiya directed and wrote the screenplay, placing it between his 2011 GARO film and GARO: Fang of God in 2018. Ryosei Konishi returns as Kouga, joined by Yuki Kubota, Anna Aoi and voice performers Yukijiro Hotaru, Tetsuya Yanagihara and Hironobu Kageyama, with Hirofumi Yamabe, Hiyoshi Mamada and Kanako Natsui producing for TFC and Omnibus Japan.
Released in Japanese cinemas in February 2013 and running just over an hour and a half, the film drew modest attention internationally. It holds a 6.1 rating on IMDb from 142 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 7 from 13 votes, the two samples reflecting very different levels of engagement with the title.
