Enemies Closer

Enemies Closer is an action thriller set in the forested border region between the United States and Canada. When a large drug shipment is lost there, a cartel pressures Henry, a forest ranger and former Navy SEAL, into recovering it. Cut off from any means of contacting the outside world, Henry runs into Clay, a man who holds a personal grudge against him. The two have to decide whether to settle their differences and cooperate or face the drug runners alone.

The film was directed by Peter Hyams, the seventeenth of the seventeen features he has directed in chronological order, following Beyond a Reasonable Doubt in 2009. Eric and James Bromberg wrote the screenplay, and Moshe Diamant, Courtney Solomon and Bobby Ranghelov produced. Jean-Claude Van Damme plays the cartel boss Xander, with Tom Everett Scott as Henry, Orlando Jones as Clay, Linzey Cocker as Kayla, Kris Van Damme as Francois and Zahari Baharov as Saul.

Made on a budget of five million dollars and running eighty-five minutes, the film was released in December 2013. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.1 from around 7,100 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 5.4 from 209 votes. A critics' rating of 5.7 from fourteen reviews places it slightly above both audience scores.
