Earth to Echo

Earth to Echo is an American science fiction adventure film about three close friends—Alex, Tuck and Munch—who live in a suburban neighbourhood where a new construction project is about to force their families to move away. Before they separate, the boys begin receiving odd coded messages on their mobile phones. When their parents and the authorities dismiss the messages, the three decide to solve the puzzle themselves and trace the signals back to their source. What they find is a small being from another world that has crashed on Earth and needs their help to get home.

The film is directed by Dave Green and written by Henry Gayden, with Ryan Kavanaugh and Andrew Panay producing. It is Green's second feature, following Ham Sandwich, and came before his later work on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows and Coyote vs. Acme. The cast includes Teo Halm as Alex, Astro as Tuck, Reese Hartwig as Munch, Ella Wahlestedt as Emma, Jason Gray-Stanford as Dr. Lawrence Madsen and Algee Smith as Marcus Simms.

Made for 13 million dollars, Earth to Echo took in about 45 million dollars worldwide, a solid return on its budget. It has a rating of 5.9 out of 10 on TMDB from 631 votes, while the film critics' score stands at 5.3 out of 10 from 126 reviews, so critics rated it slightly lower than audiences did.
