Did You Hear About the Morgans?

Paul and Meryl Morgan are a successful Manhattan couple whose marriage has fallen apart. Paul, a lawyer, has been unfaithful, and Meryl, a real estate agent, has kept her distance despite his attempts to win her back. Their personal troubles are overtaken by something far more dangerous when they happen to witness a murder and become targets of a hired killer. Placed in the FBI's witness protection program, the two are moved from New York to a small town in Wyoming, where they live under the watch of a local sheriff and his wife. Removed from the city and thrown together again, they have to decide whether their relationship can be rebuilt.

The film is a romantic comedy directed and written by Marc Lawrence, released in December 2009. It is the third of the five features he has directed, following Two Weeks Notice and Music and Lyrics, and it reunites him with Hugh Grant, who plays Paul opposite Sarah Jessica Parker as Meryl. Sam Elliott and Mary Steenburgen appear as the Wyoming couple looking after them, with Elisabeth Moss and Michael Kelly in supporting roles. The production had a budget of 58 million dollars and took about 85 million dollars worldwide, a modest return.

Reception was weak. On IMDb the film holds 4.9 out of 10 from roughly 45,000 votes, and on TMDB it has 5.4 out of 10 from about a thousand votes. A critics' rating of 3.7 out of 10 from 120 reviews places it below even those audience scores, leaving the film among the less well received entries in Lawrence's filmography.
