Heavenly Sword

Based on a video game, this animated fantasy adventure follows Nariko, a member of a clan that has protected a divine blade for millennia. When King Bohan attacks her people to seize the weapon, Nariko takes up the sword to fight his army. While the magical weapon provides her with immense power, it is dangerous for mortals to wield, as it drains the life force of anyone not destined to possess it. Nariko must navigate a conflict between her role as a guardian and her quest for vengeance before the sword's lethal effects take hold.

The film was directed by Jang Gun-ho, marking the first of two credited features in his career before the 2026 release of Body of Light. The screenplay was written by Todd Farmer. The voice cast features Anna Torv as Nariko and Alfred Molina as King Bohan, alongside Thomas Jane, Ashleigh Ball, Barry Dennen, and Renae Geerlings.
