Paul Blart, the security guard who once saved a New Jersey shopping mall, travels to Las Vegas with his teenage daughter Maya. The trip is meant to combine a security guard expo with time together before Maya leaves for college. While they are at the convention, Paul stumbles onto a planned robbery, and he takes it upon himself to stop the criminals behind it.
The film is directed by Andy Fickman, whose earlier work includes She's the Man, The Game Plan, Race to Witch Mountain, You Again and Parental Guidance. Released in April 2015, it is the seventh of the twelve features he has directed to date. Kevin James returns as Paul Blart and wrote the screenplay with Nick Bakay; Adam Sandler is among the producers. Raini Rodriguez plays Maya, with Neal McDonough as Vincent Sofel, Daniella Alonso, Eduardo Verástegui and David Henrie in supporting roles. The production involved 93 credited cast members and 55 credited crew members.
Made for a budget of 38 million US dollars, the film took in roughly 108 million US dollars worldwide, close to three times its cost. Audience response was mixed: on IMDb and on TMDB it holds a rating of 5.2 out of 10 from 1,725 votes, while the film critics' rating stands at 3 out of 10 from 62 reviews, noticeably below the audience score.
