- James D.R. Hickox agreed to film this movie despite never having seen the first two films in the franchise.
- It is known that this film, as well as the subsequent sequels, exist only because Dimension Films wanted to retain the rights to the 'Children of the Corn' franchise, which began with Stephen King's short story of the same name in 1977. To keep these rights, Dimension Films had to release a movie every couple of years.
