Short description
Brian Bloom is a young writer in New York who meets Arielle, a Frenchwoman married to a diplomat. She proposes an arrangement: the two can see each other only between five and seven in the evening, with her husband's consent. Brian accepts at first, but he soon wants more than the limited hours allow, and Arielle's own rules begin to strain under feelings that do not fit the schedule. Brian's parents, meanwhile, struggle to accept the relationship.
The film is a romantic comedy written and directed by Victor Levin, his first feature as director, followed by Destination Wedding in 2018. Anton Yelchin plays Brian and Bérénice Marlohe plays Arielle, with Olivia Threlby, Lambert Wilson, Frank Langella and Glenn Close in supporting roles. It was produced by Demarest Films and Mockingbird Pictures.
Released in 2014 and running 98 minutes, 5 to 7 drew a film critics' rating of 5.8/10 from 56 reviews, while audiences were more favorable: it holds 7.1/10 on IMDb from around 22,000 votes and 7.1/10 on TMDB from a much smaller base of 421 votes.
