Salting the Battlefield

Salting the Battlefield follows Johnny Worricker, a former MI5 officer, and Margot Tyrell as they move through Europe while British intelligence tries to track them down. Realising that constant flight cannot continue, Worricker decides his only real option is to go back to Britain and face Prime Minister Alec Beasley directly. With help from his friend Rollo Madeley, he also works to expose damaging material about the prime minister, though the results do not come as quickly as he hopes.

The film is the third part of David Hare's trilogy about Worricker, after Page Eight and Turks & Caicos, and Hare again wrote the screenplay as well as directing. Bill Nighy leads the cast, with Helena Bonham Carter as Margot, Ralph Fiennes as Beasley, Ewen Bremner as Rollo, Judy Davis as Jill Tankard and Felicity Jones as Julianne Worricker. It runs 93 minutes and was produced by Heyday Films, Beagle Pug Films, BBC Film and Carnival Films.

On TMDB it holds a rating of 6.3 out of 10 from 129 votes, a moderate audience response for a television spy drama built around conversations and institutional pressure rather than action set pieces.
