Ten years after escaping Foxworth Hall, Cathy, Christopher and Carrie Dollanganger are trying to build new lives. Taken in by Dr. Reeves, the siblings are provided with comfort and stability, but the household changes after his death, and the bond the three formed during their captivity resurfaces in ways they cannot easily leave behind. Cathy becomes involved with Julian, a fellow dancer, in a relationship that turns abusive, while Carrie struggles with the lasting effects of her grandmother's cruelty and with mistreatment at school. When tragedy strikes the family again, Cathy returns to Foxworth Hall, where she confronts her grandmother and sets out to take revenge on her mother, Corrine, by pursuing Corrine's husband, Bart.
The film is a television adaptation of the second novel in V. C. Andrews's Dollanganger series, following the earlier Flowers in the Attic. Karen Moncrieff directed it, placing it third in her feature run after The Dead Girl and The Trials of Cate McCall; Kayla Alpert wrote the screenplay. Rose McIver, Wyatt Nash and Bailey De Young play the three siblings, with Heather Graham as Corrine, Nick Searcy as Dr. Reeves and Dylan Bruce as Bart. It runs 85 minutes and was released in 2014. On TMDB it holds a rating of 6.6 out of 10 from 229 votes, a moderate reception for a production of this kind.
