Pacific Rim: Uprising

Ten years after the battle that closed the Breach, the Kaiju threat returns, and the Pan Pacific Defense Corps needs a new generation of Jaeger pilots. Among them is Jake Pentecost, a promising trainee who walked away from the program and drifted into the criminal underworld. He is recruited back by Mako Mori, who now leads a fresh team, and paired with a rival pilot, Lambert, and a young hacker, Amara. Together they face a danger greater than anything the first invasion produced.

Pacific Rim: Uprising was directed by Steven S. DeKnight, who wrote the screenplay with Emily Carmichael and T.S. Nowlin. Guillermo del Toro, director of the first Pacific Rim, produced. John Boyega plays Jake, the son of a pilot who died defending humanity, alongside Scott Eastwood as Lambert, Cailee Spaeny as Amara, Jing Tian as Liwen Shao, Rinko Kikuchi returning as Mako Mori and Burn Gorman as Dr. Hermann Gottlieb, among 33 credited cast members and a crew of 370.

Released in March 2018, the film runs 111 minutes. Made for 150 million USD, it took about 290 million USD worldwide, a modest return for a production of that scale. It rates 5.6/10 on IMDb from 137,000 votes and 6.1/10 on TMDB from 5,496 votes, while a critics' rating of 4.9/10 from 262 reviews places it below the audience scores.
