Sea Fog

Sea Fog follows the crew of a struggling fishing boat whose hauls have fallen short and whose debts have mounted. When the vessel's owner threatens to sell it, the captain, Kang, arranges a risky job: carrying a group of undocumented migrants from China to South Korea. The deal is meant to solve his money problems, but the voyage turns dangerous when bad weather and the approach of the authorities leave the men aboard gripped by panic. The youngest crew member, Dong-shik, takes it upon himself to protect one of the migrants, a young woman named Hong-mae, as the situation on the boat turns violent.

The film marks Shim Sung-bo's debut as a director. He wrote the screenplay with Bong Joon-ho, with whom he had worked previously, and Bong also produced the film alongside Lewis Taewan Kim and Cho Neung-yeon. Kim Yoon-seok leads the cast as the captain, with Park Yoo-chun as Dong-shik, Han Yeri as Hong-mae, Lee Hee-jun, Moon Sung-keun and Kim Sang-ho in supporting roles. The production is a Korean one, released in August 2014 with a runtime of 111 minutes.

On IMDb, the film holds a rating of 6.8 from roughly 4,200 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.9 from 183 votes. A critics' rating of 6.2 from 13 reviews places it slightly below the audience scores, suggesting a moderately positive but not enthusiastic response from reviewers.
