Vanishing Point

Jimmy Kowalski is a veteran and car transporter who learns that his pregnant wife has been hospitalized with life-threatening complications while he is far from home. Desperate to reach her, he drives at high speeds across the country, refusing to stop for law enforcement. This leads to a massive pursuit involving police and federal agents, who mistake his urgency for criminal activity. Along the way, Kowalski reflects on his life and marriage while attempting to break through roadblocks.

Directed and written by Charles Robert Carner, this 1997 television movie was the first of four films he directed, followed by Red Water, Judas, and J.L. Family Ranch. The cast features Viggo Mortensen in the lead role, alongside Christine Elise, Jason Priestley, Keith David, Steve Railsback, and Peta Wilson.
