Short description
In a modern idyllic kingdom, the teenage son of King Adam and Queen Belle decides to give the children of notorious villains a chance to change their lives. Mal, Evie, Carlos, and Jay are the offspring of Maleficent, the Evil Queen, Cruella De Vil, and Jafar. These four teenagers are brought from an island of prisoners to attend a school alongside the children of various heroes. The plot follows their struggle to decide whether they will follow their parents' wicked paths or embrace their own goodness to save the realm.
This 2015 American musical fantasy was directed by Kenny Ortega, who had previously directed titles such as Newsies and the High School Musical series. Descendants sits in his filmography between This Is It and The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let's Do the Time Warp Again. The main cast features Dove Cameron, Sofia Carson, Cameron Boyce, Booboo Stewart, Brenna D'Amico, and Mitchell Hope, supported by a credited team of 65 actors and 46 crew members.
The movie received a moderate reception from audiences, holding a 6.3 rating on IMDb from 31,000 votes and a higher score of 7.2 on TMDB based on 2,581 votes.
