Pasolini

Abel Ferrara's Pasolini follows the Italian poet and filmmaker Pier Paolo Pasolini through the final hours of his life in Rome in November 1975. At home he spends time with his mother and close friends, writes, and gives a frank interview, while those around him warn him that his attacks on those in power are putting him in danger. He is finishing work on what would become his last film. Later that night he drives through the city in his Alfa Romeo in search of an encounter, and by morning his body is found near Ostia. Willem Dafoe plays Pasolini, with Ninetto Davoli as Epifanio, Riccardo Scamarcio as Davoli, Valerio Mastandrea as Nico Naldini, and Roberto Zibetti and Andrea Bosca in supporting roles. Maurizio Braucci wrote the screenplay.

The film was released in 2014 and runs 87 minutes. It is the thirteenth of seventeen features Ferrara has directed in chronological order, arriving after Mary and before Siberia, and it was made as a co-production between Belgium, Italy and France. Reception was mixed. On IMDb the film holds a rating of 5.7/10 from 237 votes, while the critics' rating stands at 6.8/10 from 57 reviews, so critics responded more favorably than the wider audience did.
