At a prestigious performing arts high school in New York, students from various backgrounds strive to master singing, dancing, and acting. Over four years, these aspiring artists face a highly competitive environment where they must balance academic requirements with rigorous training. The narrative explores the tension between their desire for fame and the hard work and dedication required to achieve it, while the characters navigate personal doubts, new friendships, and romantic relationships.

Directed by Kevin Tancharoen, this was the first of two films he directed, followed by Mortal Kombat: Rebirth in 2010.
