The 9th Life of Louis Drax

Louis Drax is a nine-year-old boy who has survived a series of near-fatal accidents, one for each year of his life. On his ninth birthday he falls from a cliff and ends up in a coma, and the police investigation quickly centres on his father, who disappears after the incident. Dr. Allan Pascal, a neurologist known for unconventional methods, takes an interest in the case and begins working with the unconscious boy, trying to reach his mind and understand what really happened. His growing involvement with Louis's mother, Natalie, complicates matters, and the deeper he goes into the child's consciousness, the harder it becomes to separate reality from fantasy.

The film is directed by Alexandre Aja, its release falling between Horns and Crawl in the sequence of films he has directed. The screenplay is by Max Minghella, who also produced. Jamie Dornan plays Dr. Pascal, with Sarah Gadon as Natalie Drax, Aaron Paul as Peter Drax, Aiden Longworth as Louis, and supporting turns from Molly Parker and Oliver Platt. It is a co-production between the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States, running 108 minutes and mixing drama, fantasy, mystery and thriller elements.
