Men & Chicken

Gabriel is a university professor who has written a book about the meaning of life, while his brother Elias is preoccupied with women and has little luck with them. When their father dies, the two learn from a video recording he left behind that he was not their biological parent and that they had different mothers. Their search for their real father takes them to a remote island, where they meet three half-brothers living together in a run-down estate. The reunion with this unfamiliar family gradually exposes disturbing facts about their origins.

Anders Thomas Jensen directed and wrote the film, his fifth feature after Ernst & the Light, Flickering Lights, The Green Butchers and Adam's Apples. Mads Mikkelsen plays Elias, with David Dencik as Gabriel, and Nikolaj Lie Kaas, Søren Malling and Nicolas Bro as the half-brothers Gregor, Franz and Josef; Ole Thestrup appears as Flemming Abbott. Kim Magnusson and Tivi Magnusson produced the Danish-German-Swedish co-production, which runs 104 minutes.

The film took about 5 million dollars worldwide and holds a 6.7 rating on IMDb from roughly 16,000 votes, alongside a 6.5 on TMDB from a much smaller number of users. A critics' rating of 6.9 from 57 reviews places it slightly above the audience scores.
