Kajaki

Kajaki follows a group of British soldiers stationed at a dam in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, in 2006. Their unit is sent to clear a Taliban roadblock near the Kajaki Dam. During the patrol, one soldier steps on a landmine in a dry riverbed and loses part of his leg. As his comrades move in to help him, they discover that the surrounding ground is strewn with mines, leaving them trapped in an unmarked minefield where every step risks another casualty. The film is based on a real incident involving a small British detachment.

Paul Katis directed the film, his first feature, from a screenplay by Tom Williams. The cast includes David Elliot as Corporal Mark Wright, alongside Mark Stanley, Malachi Kirby, Ali Cook, Paul Luebke and Benjamin O'Mahony, among 26 credited cast members.

Released in 2014, the film runs 108 minutes. On IMDb it holds a rating of 7.1 from around 16,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.6 from roughly 328 votes. A critics' rating of 7.6 from 29 reviews places it somewhat above the audience scores recorded on IMDb and TMDB. The production was handled by Lipsync Productions, Head Gear Films, Metrol Technology and MENA Film, with Katis producing alongside Andrew de Lotbiniere and Gareth Unwin.
