Justice League: Gods and Monsters takes place in an alternate reality where the famous superhero trio are not the figures people expect. Here Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman are darker, more dangerous versions of themselves, and after being framed for a bombing at an embassy, they find themselves fighting the government rather than working with it.
The film is directed by Sam Liu, the eighth of twenty-two films he has directed in chronological order, following All Star Superman and preceding Justice League vs. Teen Titans. Alan Burnett wrote the screenplay. The voice cast includes Benjamin Bratt as Superman, Michael C. Hall as Batman, Tamara Taylor as Wonder Woman, Jason Isaacs as Lex Luthor, C. Thomas Howell as Dr. Will Magnus and Paget Brewster as Lois Lane, among thirty credited performers. It was made by DC Entertainment, DC Comics, Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Premiere, and runs seventy-six minutes.
On IMDb it holds a rating of 7 out of 10 from around 18,000 votes, and on TMDB a rating of 7.1 out of 10 from 632 votes. Both scores sit in similar territory, indicating a generally favorable response from viewers rather than a sharply divided one. It was released in June 2015.
