In eastern France, a community gathers for a country-and-western festival on a wide prairie, where Alain Balland is a central figure. He dances with Kelly, his sixteen-year-old daughter, while his wife Nicole and young son Kid look on. Kelly disappears that day, and the family falls apart. Alain's search for her becomes an obsession that costs him everything he had, and the only person who stays with him is Kid, who gives up his youth to accompany his father on a quest that stretches across remote and troubling places. An American recruiter takes part in the hunt.
Thomas Bidegain directed the film, his first behind the camera after a career as a screenwriter; he wrote the script with Noé Debré, and Alain Attal produced it. François Damiens plays Alain, with Finnegan Oldfield as the grown Kid, Maxim Driesen as Kid at thirteen, Agathe Dronne as Nicole, Iliana Zabeth as Kelly and Mounir Margoum as Ahmed. The large credited cast runs to thirty-three performers.
The film mixes drama, thriller and western elements. On IMDb it holds 6.7 out of 10 from around 2,300 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.4 from 138 votes. A critics' rating of 6.5 from 47 reviews places it close to the audience scores, suggesting a broadly comparable response from both groups.
