A Cure for Wellness

An ambitious young executive named Lockhart is sent by his company to bring back its chief executive from a wellness centre in a remote part of the Swiss Alps. The facility presents itself as a place of rest and healing, but Lockhart comes to suspect that its treatments are not what they appear to be. When he is found to have the same condition that keeps the other guests at the centre, he is enrolled as a patient under its director, Volmer, and begins looking into what is really going on there.

A Cure for Wellness was released in February 2017. Gore Verbinski directed it and produced it with Arnon Milchan and David Crockett, from a screenplay by Justin Haythe. It came after The Lone Ranger in Verbinski's filmography. The leading roles are played by Dane DeHaan as Lockhart, Jason Isaacs as Volmer and Mia Goth as Hannah, with Harry Groener, Celia Imrie and Adrian Schiller among the credited cast.

The film is a German and American production made for a budget of 40 million US dollars, and it took about 27 million US dollars worldwide, so it did not recover its cost at the box office. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.4 out of 10 from roughly 123,000 votes, and on TMDB also 6.4 out of 10, from about 4,300 votes. A film critics' rating of 5.3 out of 10 from 210 reviews places it below both audience scores. It runs 146 minutes.
