Family for Rent

Paul-André is a wealthy but lonely man who struggles with boredom and social anxiety. Seeking the companionship of a family, he encounters Violette, a spirited mother facing severe financial hardship and the risk of losing her two children. Paul-André proposes a business-like arrangement where he pays off her debts in exchange for being integrated into her family life for a trial period. However, he soon discovers that achieving domestic harmony is more complicated than he expected.

This romantic comedy was directed by Jean-Pierre Améris, following his work on Romantics Anonymous and Marie's Story. The film stars Benoît Poelvoorde as Paul-André and Virginie Efira as Violette Mandini, with supporting roles played by François Morel, Edith Scob, Philippe Rebbot, and Pauline Serieys. A joint production from Belgium and France, the movie was written by Améris and Murielle Magellan.
