Boruto: Naruto the Movie

Years after the Shinobi War, Naruto Uzumaki serves as the Seventh Hokage of Konoha while his son Boruto trains as a ninja. Boruto has inherited his father's talent and headstrong nature, but Naruto's constant duties keep him away from his family, and the boy resents being compared to a father he rarely sees. Admiring Sasuke Uchiha, his father's old rival, Boruto asks to become his apprentice. The Chunin Exams, where the next generation of ninja including Boruto, Sarada Uchiha and the mysterious Mitsuki are meant to prove themselves, become the setting for a larger threat.

Directed by Hiroyuki Yamashita and written by Masashi Kishimoto, the film was released in 2015 and runs 95 minutes. It is an action and adventure animated feature from Japan, produced by TOHO, Shueisha, Bandai Namco Entertainment and dentsu. Yuko Sanpei voices Boruto, with Junko Takeuchi as Naruto, Noriaki Sugiyama as Sasuke, Cocoro Kikuchi as Sarada, Daisuke Namikawa as Momoshiki and Akira Ishida as Gaara, among a credited cast of 32 and crew of 217. It was Yamashita's first theatrical feature as director; he followed it with a Naruto OVA in 2016.

The film took in about 38 million dollars worldwide. Audiences responded well: it holds 7.7/10 on IMDb from around 14,000 votes and 7.5/10 on TMDB from roughly 1,675 votes, indicating a widely seen and positively received entry in the series.
