Our Times

Our Times follows Truly Lin, an office worker whose present-day routine is disrupted when an old song brings back her teenage years. Two decades earlier, as a shy high school student, she harboured a crush on Ouyang Fei-fan, the most popular boy in school. After a chain letter she passes on reaches Taiyu, the school's resident troublemaker, he is hurt in a car accident and tracks the letter back to her. Learning that Truly likes Ouyang, whose girlfriend is the campus beauty Tao Minmin, Taiyu proposes an alliance: they will work together to break up the golden couple so each can pursue the person they want.

The film is directed by Frankie Chen, his first feature, followed by Fall in Love at First Kiss in 2019, and was written by Tseng Yung-ting. Vivian Sung and Darren Wang play the younger Truly and Taiyu, with Dino Lee and Dewi Chien as Ouyang and Tao Minmin; Joe Chen appears as the adult Truly and Andy Lau plays himself.

Made for about 3 million USD, the Taiwanese-Hong Kong-Chinese production went on to earn roughly 84 million USD worldwide. On IMDb it holds 7.4/10 from around 6,700 votes, and on TMDB 7.4/10 from about 181 votes, while a critics' rating stands at 7/10 from 21 reviews, placing audience and critic assessments close together.
