The Devil's Candy

Jesse, a painter who has yet to find real success, moves with his wife Astrid and their daughter Zooey into a large house in rural Texas that the family has bought as a fresh start. The property has a troubling history, and the previous occupants' son, Ray, a mentally disturbed man, turns up at the house wanting it back. Something also begins to affect Jesse: the voice he hears and the pressure in his head push him toward paintings filled with dark and disturbing imagery, and the household comes under threat from evil forces.

The film was directed by Sean Byrne, who also wrote the screenplay, and it followed his debut, The Loved Ones, released six years earlier, with Dangerous Animals arriving much later in his career. Ethan Embry plays Jesse, Shiri Appleby plays Astrid, Pruitt Taylor Vince appears as Ray and Kiara Glasco as Zooey, with Tony Amendola and Leland Orser in supporting roles. It runs 80 minutes and was made by HanWay Films and Snoot Entertainment as a British and American production.
