Four friends in their late thirties, all successful professionals, leave Moscow for a two-day drive to Odessa. Kamil, Lesha, Sasha and Slava want a break from work, family and everything waiting for them at home. Slava's acquaintance runs a nightclub in Odessa, and the band B-2 is playing there, so the trip has a destination. Most of the film happens along the way, as the men talk: about women above all, but also about jobs, money, cars and football, and about the lives they have ended up with. The conversations give the journey its shape.
Dmitriy Dyachenko directed from a screenplay by Leonid Barats, Rostislav Khait and Sergey Petreykov, with Aleksandr Tsekalo also producing. Barats, Khait and Kamil Larin play three of the four friends alongside Aleksandr Demidov, so the group on screen comes largely from the same circle that wrote it. Zhanna Friske and Nonna Grishaeva appear in supporting roles. Dyachenko's feature work began with this film; his later titles include Super Family, three films in the Last Warrior series and Finist. The First Warrior.
Made for about 2 million dollars, the comedy took roughly 13 million dollars worldwide, a strong return for its budget. On IMDb it holds 7.5/10 from around 7,300 votes, and on TMDB 7.2/10 from about 204 votes.
