Cemetery Junction

Cemetery Junction is set in early 1970s England, where three young working-class friends, Freddie, Bruce and Snork, spend their time drinking, joking, fighting and chasing girls. Freddie wants more out of life than the town can offer, while the charismatic Bruce and the good-natured Snork are content with things as they are. Freddie takes a job as a door-to-door insurance salesman and reconnects with Julie, a girl he knew at school, which pushes the three friends toward decisions that will shape their futures.

The film was directed by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, who also wrote the screenplay. It followed Gervais's earlier directorial effort The Invention of Lying and came before his later films David Brent: Life on the Road and Special Correspondents; for Merchant it was the first of two directing credits, ahead of Fighting with My Family. Christian Cooke plays Freddie, Tom Hughes plays Bruce, Jack Doolan plays Snork and Felicity Jones plays Julie, with Ralph Fiennes as Mr Kendrick and Gervais as Len Taylor among a credited cast of twenty-eight. Produced by Gervais and Merchant's company, the film took about two million dollars worldwide.

Audience response was moderate: on IMDb it holds 6.8/10 from roughly 25,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.5/10 from 328 votes. A critics' rating of 6.5/10 from 43 reviews places it in line with those audience scores rather than above or below them.
