Elaine, a young and beautiful witch, wants nothing more than to be truly loved. To achieve this, she turns to spells, potions and rituals designed to make men fall for her. The men she targets do fall for her, but the magic takes a harsh toll on them, and each romance ends badly. When Elaine finally believes she has met the man she has been searching for, her longing for love tips into despair and obsession.
The film is written, directed and produced by Anna Biller, and it was her second feature, following The Love Witch with The Face of Horror in 2026. Samantha Robinson plays Elaine, with Gian Keys as Griff, Laura Waddell as Trish, Jeffrey Vincent Parise as Wayne, Jared Sanford as Gahan and Robert Seeley as Richard. Stylistically, the film draws on the look of 1960s Technicolor thrillers while examining female fantasy and self-absorption.
Released in 2016, the film runs 121 minutes and mixes comedy, fantasy, horror and romance, with 38 credited cast members and 91 credited crew. Audiences rate it modestly: on IMDb it sits at 6.2 out of 10 from around 24,000 votes, and on TMDB at 6.4 out of 10 from roughly 654 votes. Critics were notably warmer, giving it 7.7 out of 10 across 113 reviews.
