A group of film students at a small-town university organize an all-night horror marathon in an old cinema to raise money for their department. They screen low-budget horror pictures from the 1950s and 1960s, complete with gimmicks meant to startle the audience. Their plans are disrupted when a killer begins stalking the event, and the murders appear connected to a cult leader from the past.

Alan Ormsby directed and wrote the screenplay, with Mark Herrier also credited as director; the film was produced by Bob Clark, Ashok Amritraj and Gary Goch. It followed Ormsby's earlier Deranged (1974) as his second feature in the director's chair, roughly seventeen years later. The cast includes Jill Schoelen as Maggie, Tom Villard as Toby, Dee Wallace as Suzanne, Derek Rydall as Mark, Kelly Jo Minter as Cheryl and Malcolm Danare as Bud, among 39 credited performers. The film had a modest commercial run, taking in about 4 million dollars worldwide.
