Perpetuity

Adapted from the novel Our Street by Sandor Tar, this film is set in a post-apocalyptic village on the border of Hungary and Ukraine. In a wasteland devoid of electricity and currency, the inhabitants rely on bartering and alcohol to function while planes crash randomly around them. The story follows Ocsenas, a man attempting to survive the surrounding war and savagery. As he provides aid to others, he becomes entangled in a love triangle that will shape his destiny.

The movie was directed by György Pálfi, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Zsófia Ruttkay. In Pálfi's filmography, this production follows his previous works Taxidermia, Final Cut: Ladies and Gentlemen, and Hungary 2011, and precedes his 2026 project Hen. The cast features Tamás Polgár in the lead role as Ocsenás, alongside Júlia Ubrankovics, Attila Menszátor-Héres, Mercédesz Érsek-Obádovics, and Caroline Boulton.

Produced by KMH Film and Körúti Film, this Hungarian drama blends romance and science fiction elements over a 77-minute runtime. Since its release on February 22, 2022, the film has received a moderate reception from viewers, maintaining a rating of 5.5/10 on IMDb based on 279 votes.
