Batman: Under the Red Hood

A new figure has appeared in Gotham's underworld: the Red Hood, a masked man who is dismantling Black Mask's criminal empire with the skill of Batman but none of his restraint. Batman sets out to identify him, aided by Nightwing, and the investigation stirs up secrets from his own past. Killing is an option for this newcomer, and the Joker's involvement brings buried history back to the surface.

Batman: Under the Red Hood is an animated adaptation of the DC Comics storyline, directed by Brandon Vietti and written by Judd Winick, the writer of the original comic arc. It was released in July 2010 and runs 75 minutes. Bruce Greenwood voices Batman and Bruce Wayne, Jensen Ackles plays the Red Hood and Jason Todd, Neil Patrick Harris is Nightwing, Jason Isaacs is Ra's al Ghul, John DiMaggio is the Joker and Wade Williams is Black Mask, among 22 credited cast members. Bruce Timm and Bobbie Page produced it for Warner Bros. Animation, Warner Premiere and DC Comics.

The film sits second in the directorial chronology given here, following Superman: Doomsday from 2007. It took about 7 million dollars worldwide. It holds an 8 out of 10 on IMDb from 74,000 votes and a 7.8 out of 10 on TMDB from 1,783 votes, close together and suggesting steady approval across both audiences. On 11 reviews, critics rate it 7.6 out of 10, roughly in line with viewers.
