Lottery Ticket

Kevin Carson lives in an Atlanta housing project and has just discovered that his lottery ticket is worth 370 million dollars. Because the lottery office is closed for the long Fourth of July weekend, he cannot collect his winnings right away and must get through three days while keeping the ticket safe. When word gets out that he holds the winning numbers, the people around him begin to change, and Kevin learns which of his neighbors and friends are genuinely on his side. Erik White directed the film, his first feature, released in 2010; his second film as director, The Trap, followed in 2019. Abdul Williams wrote the screenplay, and Oren Koules, Andrew A. Kosove and Broderick Johnson produced it through Cube Vision and Sweepstake Productions.

Shad Moss plays Kevin, with Brandon T. Jackson as his friend Benny, Naturi Naughton as Stacie, Loretta Devine as his grandmother, Teairra Mari as Nikki Swayze and Ice Cube as Mr. Washington among a credited cast of 37. Made for a budget of 17 million dollars, the comedy took in about 25 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.1 from roughly 12,000 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 5.6 from around 189 votes. A critics' score of 5 out of 10 from 83 reviews places it close to the audience ratings, with neither group regarding it as more than a mild diversion.
