American Assassin

Based on the Vince Flynn novel of the same name, American Assassin introduces Mitch Rapp, a young man whose life is upended when his fiancée is killed in a terrorist attack. Driven by grief and a desire for retribution, he is recruited into the CIA and placed under the tutelage of Stan Hurley, a hardened veteran of the Cold War. Their first assignment together is to look into a string of seemingly unconnected strikes against military and civilian targets, an investigation that draws them toward a figure known as Ghost, whose intentions threaten to destabilize the region.

Michael Cuesta directs this action thriller, his second feature following Kill the Messenger in 2014. The screenplay was written by Edward Zwick, Marshall Herskovitz and Stephen Schiff, with Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Nick Wechsler producing. Dylan O'Brien leads the cast as Mitch Rapp, appearing alongside Michael Keaton as Stan Hurley, Taylor Kitsch as Ghost, Shiva Negar, Sanaa Lathan and Scott Adkins. The production brought together 54 credited cast members and 166 credited crew.

Made for a budget of 33 million dollars, the film went on to earn 67 million dollars worldwide.
