Four longtime friends who once called themselves the Flossy Posse reunite after five years apart for a trip to New Orleans and the Essence Festival. Ryan, Sasha, Lisa and Dina have drifted into busy careers, relationships and family life, and the getaway is meant to recapture the freedom of their college days. Dancing, drinking and flirting follow, but so do tensions that test how well the four still know each other.
Malcolm D. Lee directed the film, his eighth feature, arriving between Barbershop: The Next Cut and Night School. The screenplay is credited to Erica Rivinoja, Tracy Oliver and Kenya Barris, with Will Packer and Lee producing for Universal Pictures, Will Packer Productions and Perfect World Pictures. Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith and Tiffany Haddish play the four friends, with Larenz Tate and Mike Colter among the supporting cast.
Made for about 19 million dollars, the film took roughly 141 million worldwide, a strong return on its budget. On IMDb it holds 6.2 out of 10 from around 43,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.8 from about 1,600 votes. A critics' rating of 6.9 from 175 reviews places it slightly above the IMDb audience figure and close to the TMDB score.
