Five years after they prevented an apocalypse, Laura and Carmilla are living together in downtown Toronto. Laura works on her journalism, and Carmilla, now a mortal human, settles into ordinary life. Their calm is broken when Carmilla starts showing signs of becoming a vampire again, from a taste for bloody treats to biting without meaning to, while Laura is troubled by strange dreams. To understand what is happening to Carmilla, the two turn to their old friends from Silas University and face a supernatural threat that puts humanity, and Carmilla herself, at risk.
The Carmilla Movie is a Canadian comedy, horror and romance directed by Spencer Maybee, written by Jordan Hall and Alejandro Alcoba, and produced by Melanie Windle and Steph Ouaknine. It continues the story of the characters from the web series Carmilla, with Elise Bauman and Natasha Negovanlis returning as Laura and Carmilla; Annie Briggs, Kaitlyn Alexander, Nicole Stamp and Grace Lynn Kung also appear. At 94 minutes, it is a feature-length extension of the couple's story rather than a standalone tale.
On IMDb the film holds a rating of 6.2 from around 2,900 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 7.3 from 114 votes. The larger IMDb sample points to a modest response overall, and the smaller, more invested TMDB group rates it more warmly.
